Apogee /ˈapəjē/ :

The highest point in the development of something; a climax or culmination.

Apogee Charleston is a center for education for homeschool families. We provide support, opportunities, and resources for our families, staff and young learners to grow with intention, pursue freedom, and fulfill their potential.

“The primary goal of real education is not to deliver facts but to guide students to the truths that will allow them to take responsibility for their lives.”

― John Taylor Gatto

OUR WHY:

At Apogee Charleston, we are committed to guiding children on their path to become critical thinkers, responsible and healthy individuals, and instill a passion for life long learning.

Socratic Discussions

Children will build communication skills through student-led group discussions. Creating a space where questions are encouraged, ideas are shared, and critical thinking is nurtured will help students develop confidence, curiosity, and communication skills.

Physiology First

Physical, social, and emotional well-being is a priority at Apogee Charleston. Students engage in physical activities daily. Activities help develop strength, coordination, and mental wellness. Good mental health and physical health are interrelated, and we foster and encourage both.

Student-centered Learning

We believe that children learn best when they have an active role in what and how they learn. Children naturally pursue their interests with the support of a guide. Through project-based learning, students learn time management, problem solving, and critical thinking skills, while taking ownership of their own learning.

Play

We have unstructured play built into our schedule daily. Children learn conflict resolution, problem solving, and character building skills through play. Students learn to take risks, cooperate with others, develop responsibility and resiliency which are crucial for healthy development.

Mixed Age Studios

Mixed Age studios foster a collaborative learning environment. It allows for older students to take on leadership roles, guiding and mentoring younger learners. Younger students learn from observing older students. All students develop a deep sense of community and belonging.

The Lower studio will focus on fueling the fire for learning for children. Learning is focused on core skills: math, reading, writing. social studies, and science as well as physical fitness and passion projects. Students will learn to set immediate and long term goals with the support of our coaches and structured online academic guidelines. Academics are student led and self-paced.

We will focus on opening our Lower studio in the year 2024-2025. Our lower studio consists of ages 5-12, with a half day program for 4 year olds. We plan to develop an upper studio and expand to ages 12-18 as our students and enrollment grows.
